My Story
I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors. Growing up between the green fields of East Sussex and the busy streets of London, I quickly learned how grounding it feels to spend time in nature. My love for gardening began with my grandmother, who could make anything grow. Those afternoons planted the first seeds of what would become both my passion and my profession.
At 17, I started gardening part-time. Over time, I realised it wasn’t just the gardening I loved, but the satisfaction of helping others, and leaving things better than I found them. I began to see a bigger picture: the same principles I applied to gardens, care, attention, and intentional action, could also be applied to life beyond the garden. Now, more than six years later, I’ve built Gardening with a Smile to bring that approach to homes and gardens across London and the surrounding countryside. My goal is simple: to make outdoor spaces look their best, while bringing a bit of positivity and warmth to the process.
No matter the weather, rain or shine, you’ll always find me with a smile on my face. That same attitude guides my approach to life outside the garden: intentional actions, thoughtfully directed, can grow into meaningful outcomes. My passion for impact extends far beyond gardening. I’ve always wanted to use whatever I can to make a positive difference in the world, through the way I run my business, the people I work with, and the resources I have at my disposal.
Earlier this year, I discovered the world of Effective Giving. I was struck by the stark differences in impact between charities and, importantly, how much of a difference even a small portion of my income could make if donated effectively. It was a truly life-changing moment. Taking the Giving What We Can 10% Pledge felt like a natural next step.
For me, gardening is more than just a job, it’s a way to connect with people, create beauty, and leave things better than I found them.
